Epimedium franchetii, also known as Bishop's Hat, is an amazing, easy-to-care-for perennial. It grows well in shady areas and can be either deciduous or evergreen. Its large, bright yellow flowers appear in late winter to early spring, and are followed by attractive foliage. The leaves are heart-shaped, glossy and purple-tinged in summer. During the late spring and summer, the plant produces delicate fern-like branches. In the fall, the foliage turns a beautiful yellow-orange color. Bishop's Hat is low maintenance and doesn't require fertilizer or much pruning. In addition, it is drought tolerant and rabbit resistant. Overall, Bishop's Hat is an easy-to-care-for, stunningly attractive plant.
