Sambucus nigra 'Guincho Purple'
Black Elder (Sambucus nigra 'Guincho Purple') is an attractive, multi-stemmed shrub. Characterised by its striking deep purple foliage and mauve flowers, it's an ornamental variety of the common Elder tree. Growing up to three metres tall, its versatile nature makes it ideal for use as a hedge, screen, or windbreak. It does well in most soil types and needs full sun for optimum colour. It also produces fragrant, edible berries which attract a variety of birds. This variety is disease resistant and easy to care for, making it an excellent addition to gardens.
