Pseudosasa japonica
Arrow bamboo (Pseudosasa japonica) is a tall, upright bamboo species with bright green, 2-4 inch long culms. It can reach up to 16 feet in height and has a spread of 4-10 feet. The culms are thick and glossy and they are closely spaced. It is native to Japan and likes cool temperatures and moist soils. It is very resistant to cold weather and can survive in temperatures as low as -20°F (-29°C). This bamboo is heat tolerant and will thrive in full sun to partial shade. It requires regular waterings, and should be fertilized at least once a year. Arrow bamboo creates a stunning landscape feature and brings texture and color to any garden.
