Jacaranda mimosifolia
The Black Poui is a beautiful, evergreen tree found in many parts of the world and is part of the Bignoniaceae family. It grows to around 15-20 meters in height and has a distinctively rounded-like crown. The trunk is usually slim and smooth while the leaves are bipinnate and fern-like, with distinctive, terminal 'teardrop' shaped leaflets and a pleasing smoky, blue-green hue. During the summer, large, lavender-blue blooms will adorn its branches before giving way to a lovely seedpod display in the autumn. A vivid and statuesque addition to any garden, the Black Poui is a sight to behold.
